Sotheby’s Art Auction
Sotheby’s annual 20th Century Italian Art sale on October 12 in London boasts exceptional works by modern and contemporary masters.
The cover lot of the sale is a beautiful Manzoni Achrome (1959) which displays a thickly pleated surface, unique of its kind. Highlights of the sale include stunning sculptures by Marino Marini, an outstanding Combustione Plastica by Alberto Burri, and major examples from Lucio Fontana’s Cuts, Oils and Holes series.
Important paintings by Giorgio Morandi and Giorgio de Chirico are complemented by museum-quality sculptures from Arte Povera artists Pino Pascali, Luciano Fabro, and Giulio Paolini, as well as a very rare purple Mappa by Alighiero Boetti.
