Inside the Sotheby’s Leadership Conference
Posted September 11th, 2012 | by The Update
Today in Chicago, the Sotheby’s International Realty Global Partners are getting a peek at marketing strategies and initiatives around the world. Amy Todd Middleton, senior vice president of Global Strategic Marketing for Sotheby’s, says our changing world requires global marketing. The challenge, and opportunity, exists for Partners to build the brand across countries and cultures.
Challenges arise in countries like China where the government controls social media outlets and state-owned competitors like Poly Real Estate Company do business alongside private real estate firms.
International business is greatly increasing, especially Canada and China. According to Middleton, China will soon be the number one English-speaking country in the world. Asia remains an important market for SIR Global, where sales have risen from 6% in 2006 to 30% in 2012.
“I’m enjoying the Sotheby’s Leadership Conference here in Chicago,” said Robbie Briggs, CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. “It’s exciting to see how the Sotheby’s brand continues to expand and grow. Our web traffic is outpacing all other brands and associations according to compete.com. And, the Sotheby’s Auction House is also growing— they’ve old over 831.8 million dollars of art, jewelry and furniture.”
