Farms and ranches east of the Metroplex offer beautiful lakes for fishing and water sports. They also have close access to entertainment, shopping and daily conveniences.

Two great properties are the Lake LaHood Estate near Greenville and the Water Hill Farm in Canton.

The Lake LaHood Estate at 4207 E. Interstate 30 in Campbell has about 70 acres on a 35-acre private lake. The custom-built, 3,009-square-foot home with Austin stone has three bedrooms and two baths.

The 35-acre lake is great for canoes and small boats. Ducks, geese and doves can be seen on the property. The game fish include black bass, catfish and brim.

It has a grazing room for horses or other livestock and includes a 40- by 50-foot metal barn with concrete floors and three stalls. Offered by Jim Strawn and David Burgher with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

Water Hill Farm at 1340 CR 2502 in Canton has 38 highly productive acres with a 3,500-square-foot home.

Only an hour from Dallas, the property has a gated entrance with pipe fencing. There are three ponds and a three-acre lake. The property also has eight horse stalls, two loafing sheds and four paddocks.

The property with a custom-built home is being offered for $750,000. The seller owns an additional 40 acres that are available. Offered by Jim Strawn with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.
